Landrace Sativa Strain for Beginners & Experienced Alike With Amazing Effects

The Chocolate Thai seeds are one of the few landrace Sativa strains in the market since the 1960s. These seeds come from the warm & humid climate of Thailand. They have hints of coffee & chocolate that give you a euphoric high for all day. You can grow Chocolate Thai marijuana seeds in a small space & get moderate yields. Those who are familiar with local varieties know everything about these seeds.

The locals smoked it in Thai sticks like a bamboo skewer made from cannabis buds. For those unfamiliar with local varieties, Chocolate Thai is essentially purebred equivalents of cannabis varieties that have not changed or improved over the years.

The Genotype of Chocolate Thai Seeds

Chocolate Thai seeds have the potential to remain popular for so many years. They are a phenotype of Thai landraces, which means they have been grown rapidly without human intervention. It’s believed that they are the result of the crossing of OG Chocolate Thai & Big Sur Holy Weed. While most of the varieties on the market have been bred by repeatedly crossing several strains to achieve the desired characteristics, the Thai weed remained intact. The result we have got for you is a pure Sativa Strain, which is difficult to find in this hybrid seeds dominant Marijuana industry. With a slight mutation, we have Chocolate Thai seeds for sale, which will grow into plants with chocolate-colored buds with pure Sativa effects.

The Phenotype of Chocolate Thai Seeds

Buds of the plants that grow from Chocolate Thai strain seeds will be dark green with glistering orange hairy pistils and a thin layer of trichomes. Back in the ’60s, Chocolate Thai cannabis seeds were producing plants with unappealing dark brown buds. Some buds may have dark-colored spots on them. Being a Sativa Strain, these high-quality seeds will grow into tall & thin plants that you may need to tie to prevent their stems from breaking.

Flowering Time

Chocolate Thai strain seeds will have a long flowering time of 9 to 10 weeks. This strain is a true classic and will keep you motivated for the whole day. Those with creative minds love to grow chocolate that seeds. In contrast to the high demand for this strain, these seeds are sold out quickly in the market, making them difficult to find & grow yourself.

With an average THC level of just 10 – 15%, Chocolate Thai is one of the strains that many experienced smokers recommend to new patients and enthusiasts. That does not mean that the effectiveness of this strain is low as most reviews of this strain indicate its high effectiveness. Even though the level of THC is one of the determining elements, it is the THC content that leads to the effects of this strain. Instead of suppressing your senses, a moderate amount of THC stimulates you while keeping you grounded. As a result, Chocolate Thai seeds are perfect to grow & smoke for beginners.

When it comes to CBD, Chocolate Thai has about 0.1%. This is true for Sativa strains that are high in THC, so it’s not too surprising. However, just because there is no CBD in this strain, doesn’t mean that medical Cannabis users cannot benefit from growing Chocolate Thai Seeds.

Effects of Chocolate Thai

Recreational Effects

As a pure Sativa, Chocolate Thai weed seeds will grow into plants with a fairly predictable set of effects. Ecstasy is primarily cerebral and affects the mind, not the body. In true Sativa style, you will feel refreshed and alive. Many users enjoy using Chocolate Thai early in the morning right after getting up due to its suitable effects. Perhaps the aroma of her coffee contributes to this, making her an ideal alternative to your cup of coffee. Soon after you smoke, you will feel refreshed, energized, and ready to go.

It’s relatively low in THC, so the high content isn’t loud or overwhelming. On the contrary, you will feel focused and productive. It’s perfect when you have a long to-do list, especially if you are busy with many creative tasks. This variety has a delicious sweet flavor of the original Thai Sativa. The strain has so much to give to you besides its taste that you should definitely grow Chocolate Thai Cannabis seeds & taste famous marijuana buds.

Medical Effects

Many patients enjoy using this strain because it makes them feel fresh, lively, and creative without being overly strong. Chocolate Thai seeds for sale are ideal to grow for medical marijuana users because the bud of the plants will help them manage conditions like depression, insomnia, and PTSD. it will help them to focus on what is happening in front of them rather than worrying about alternatives. Sativa is known for its effect to enhanced mood and Thai chocolate is no exception. Fatigue is another reason people use Chocolate Thai strain. Finally, Chocolate Thai can help users deal with mild pain. THC is anti-inflammatory, and this strain contains enough THC to reduce inflammation and relieve chronic pain.

Aroma & Taste of Chocolate Thai

Buds of the plants that grow from Chocolate Thai marijuana seeds are not pungent on smell. The aroma of Chocolate Thai is spicy, sweet, and earthy. The aftertaste has the same notes of coffee and chocolate. Overall, chocolate Thai is a delicious weed variety & full of flavor.

The Yield of Chocolate Thai Seeds

The outdoor growing of Chocolate Thai seeds will likely yield around 10 – 12 ounces (300 – 350 g) per plant. Compared to most other varieties, this number is rather low. Growing Chocolate Thai weed seeds indoors will yield approximately 1.1 oz/ft 2 (350 g/m 2 ).

The Chocolate Thai seeds are one of the few landrace Sativa strains in the market since the 1960s and originate from warm & humid Thailand.

Wild Thailand Cannabis Seeds

Wild Thailand Cannabis Seeds from World of Seeds

A pure strain from the Ko Chang archipelago in Thailand, her THC levels are among the highest in the world. She’s highly prized by Thai growers who smuggle her into Bangkok despite the severity of the country’s penal system. This strain’s value derives from it being the result of continual interbreeding using the best examples of this Thai Ko Chang lineage undertaken over many years by the area’s expert growers; local inhabitants who have been cultivating it for generations. She’s one of Thailand’s most productive strains and has a relatively short flowering cycle for a pure Thai Sativa. Very vigorous, sometimes uncontrollable growth. If grown in a pot, leave plenty of room for the root zone to develop for optimum yields. Like the authentic Thai she is, her taste and smell will bring Asia to your palate while her effect will spirit you away to the indescribable temples of Bangkok.

chia seeds vs hemp hearts

Flax, Chia, or Hemp? A Nutrition Showdown

We all know that eating flax, chia, and hemp seed is good for our health (even if we aren’t entirely sure why). In a nutshell – or should I say, a “seed” shell – flax, chia, and hemp all contain alpha linolenic acid (ALA for short); the parent fat of the omega 3 family. Susan Macfarlene here to discuss these important omega 3 sources.

Omega 3 is an essential fat because our body is unable to make it (although we can convert small amounts of ALA into DHA and EPA, the type of omega 3 found in algae and animals that eat algae). The heart healthy benefits of consuming omega 3 have been well-established, although most of these benefits have been attributed to EPA and DHA. In a recent review (1), ALA was found to have a modest benefit in the prevention of heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis, and demonstrated the following health-promoting properties (1):

  • Reduced hardening of plaque
  • Lowered blood cholesterol
  • Promoted healthy artery walls
  • Prevented clots from forming
  • Prevented arrhythmia
  • Lowered inflammation

However, what research on ALA does not answer is what the best source is between the popular choices of chia, flax, and hemp seed.

One of the first crops domesticated by humans, flax has been commercially produced in the United States since 1753 and is used today for both its oil and seed (2). By weight, flax is 41% fat, 20% protein, and 28% fibre (containing both soluble and insoluble fibre), with a highly desirable omega 6 to omega 3 ratio of approximately 0.3:1 (3). In addition to being a good source of vitamin E (3), flax seeds also contain calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. The nutritional composition of 100 g and 1 tbsp of ground flaxseeds seeds can be viewed below (USDA database):

Nutr. Info 100 g 1 tbsp (7 g)
Calories 534 38
Protein (g) 18.3 1.3
Fat (g) 42.2 3.0
Omega 3 (g) 22.8 1.6

Flax seeds are also rich in bioactive substances, most notably lignans, which exert health-promoting properties as a phytoestrogen and antioxidant (3). For example, lignans from flax seed have been shown to decrease biomarkers of breast cancer in premenopausal women (4), as well as supress the growth of tumours (5). Furthermore, the bioactive substances in flax may lower cholesterol (especially in post-menopausal women), reduce the risk of comorbidities associated with obesity, and mitigate inflammation (3).

Chia seeds are a relative of the mint family and were traditionally used in Central and South America as a medicinal and staple food (6). In North America, chia seeds gained popularity in the 1980s as “Chia Pets”; terracotta figurines that sprouted chia seeds to resemble an animal’s fur or hair. Nowadays, people are more likely to consume, rather than grow, chia seeds, thanks in part to their impressive nutritional profile.

By weight, chia seeds are 53% fat, 35% carbohydrate, and 12% protein (containing all nine essential amino acids) and are a good source of both insoluble and soluble fibre (6). In addition, chia seeds are high in antioxidants and contain the minerals calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and selenium. Unlike flax seeds, which in their whole form will pass through digestion unabsorbed, chia seeds can be digested and absorbed in their whole form (6). The nutritional composition of 100 g and 1 tbsp of chia seeds can be viewed below (USDA database):

Nutr. Info 100 g 1 tbsp (11 g)
Calories 486 53.5
Protein (g) 16.5 1.8
Fat (g) 30.7 3.4
Omega 3 (g) 17.8 2.0

There is a lack of high-quality evidence to support the use of chia seeds in the prevention and management of chronic diseases. Nonetheless, a few studies have suggested that chia seeds may help prolong satiety (7), reduce blood pressure and inflammation, and keep post-meal blood sugars stable (8).

Hemp seed has seen its fair share of controversy since it hails from the same plant as marijuana. Because of this, both Canada and the United States had regulations that limited, or outright banned, the growing of hemp seed, despite its very low content of THC (

0.2%), which is effectively removed by processing and cleaning (9,10). Thankfully, these bans have been lifted, allowing North Americans to reap the nutritional benefits of these hearty seeds.

By weight, hemp seeds are 20% to 25% protein, 20% to 30% carbohydrate, 25% to 35% fat, and 10% to 15% insoluble fiber (11). In addition, they are a good source of magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and manganese, and contain incredibly high levels of antioxidants (11). The nutritional composition of 100 g and 1 tbsp of chia seeds can be viewed below (USDA database):

Nutr. Info 100 g 1 tbsp (10 g)
Calories 553 55
Protein (g) 31.6 3.2
Fat (g) 48.8 4.9

Hemp seeds are unique in that they contain stearidonic acid (SDA); an intermediary in the pathway that converts ALA into the longer-chain EPA and DHA (11). Because of the presence of SDA, it is possible that an increased amount of EPA and DHA could be made from hemp seeds (compared to other plant sources of omega 3), but this has yet to be proven through research.

Similar to flax and chia, the fatty acid profile of hemp seeds exerts a favourable effect on lipid profile and markers of cardiovascular health (11). Furthermore, hemp seeds and oil contain phytosterols, which are plant-derived compounds that resemble cholesterol but have an LDL-lowering effect (12, 13).

Which to Choose – Hemp, Flax, or Chia Seed?

What’s clear is that flax, hemp, and chia seeds are all an excellent choice and provide a good source of plant-derived ALA, along with an array of nutrients and antioxidants. Of the three, flax provides the highest source of ALA and most ideal ratio of omega 6 to 3. On the other hand, hemp is the highest in protein and provides an excellent source of zinc, while chia seeds are the highest in calcium and fibre. To me, there is no clear winner among the 3, which is why I recommend including all of them in your diet. Just keep in mind that because of the high antioxidant and polyunsaturated content of these fats, it’s best to store them in your fridge or freezer and be mindful of cooking practices that could introduce free-radicals, such as high-temperature cooking.

Flax, Chia, or Hemp. Find out why these sources of omega 3 are so important in your diets, especially for plant-based dieters.

Chia Seeds Vs. Hemp Seeds: SPICEography Showdown

You are here: Home / SPICEography Showdown / Chia Seeds Vs. Hemp Seeds: SPICEography Showdown

Chia seeds and hemp seeds are often listed alongside flax seeds as superfoods. If you are trying to choose between them, you will need to consider what each has to offer. Our chia seeds vs. hemp seeds SPICEography Showdown will show you how the two seeds compare to each other. Let’s break things down.

How are chia seeds and hemp seeds different?

The obvious difference between chia and hemp seeds is the fact that they come from two unrelated plants. They have different appearances and are used differently. Hemp seeds are larger, golden brown, and have an oval shape while chia seeds are small and speckled but mostly black. You also use them differently. To get the most from chia seeds, you will need to soak them. Chia seeds are mucilaginous, which means that they contain a soluble fiber that becomes gelatinous when it comes into contact with water. Mucilage is great for improving the speed at which food passes through the bowels as well as for reducing cholesterol in the blood. Chia seeds are rich in several minerals including calcium and phosphorus.

Hemp seeds contain more than twice the amount of chia seeds’ protein in the same serving size; however, you will not get as much fiber. Hemp seeds are not mucilaginous. They also have iron, which you won’t find in chia seeds but they lack the chia seeds’ calcium. Both seeds provide zinc, but hemp seeds provide much more of it.

Both types of seeds are good sources of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, but chia seeds contain a lot more of the omega 3 acids while hemp seeds contain more of the omega 6 fatty acids.

Chia seeds have a mildly nutty flavor that is similar to the extremely mild flavor of poppy seeds. When used in small amounts, the flavor is almost undetectable; however, they are dense with an intense crunch like poppy seeds. Note that the crunch only lasts as long as it takes for the seeds to absorb water. When they are placed in contact with water, they quickly become soft. Hemp seeds have a nutty taste with earthy notes that makes their taste similar to that of sunflower seeds.

Can you use chia seeds as substitutes for hemp seeds and vice versa?

From a nutritional standpoint, both seeds are good for you even though they each have their own distinct nutritional profile. The fact that they differ in terms of size, appearance and texture means that may not work well in all the same dishes. For example, chia seeds are often used as vegan egg substitutes. They are soaked in water so that they release their mucilage. They can then be added to any baked goods that require a binder. Because hemp seeds are not mucilaginous, they cannot replace chia seeds in vegan recipes since they will not help to bind ingredients.

Hemp seeds are often added to dishes to provide a crunchy texture. They can be sprinkled over oatmeal or salads like sunflower seeds or pine nuts. While chia seeds can be used in salads, they should be consumed quickly as they will soften as soon as they absorb moisture. That ability to soak up moisture and to get soft makes them unsuitable for providing a crunchy texture to wet foods like oatmeal.

When should you use chia seeds and when should you use hemp seeds?

Use chia seeds if you need to replace eggs in baked goods or if you need a poppy seed substitute. You can use them to top bread and other baked goods as you would use poppy seeds. Use hemp seeds in the same way that you would use sunflower seeds or pine nuts. Sprinkle them over vegetables or use them to top casseroles.

What are seeds

A seed is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food.

It is the product of the ripened ovule of gymnosperm and angiosperm plants which occurs after fertilization and some growth with in the motherplant.

The formation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in plants (started with the development of flowers and pollination), with the embryo developed from the zygote and the seed coat from the integuments of the ovule.

This process starts with double fertilization in angiosperms and it involves the fusion of the egg and sperm nuclei into a zygote.

The second part of this process is the fusion of the polar nuclei with a second sperm cell nucleus, thus forming a primary endosperm.

Right after fertilization the zygote is mostly inactive but the primary endosperm divides rapidly to form the endosperm tissue.

This tissue becomes the food that the young plant will consume until the roots have developed after germination, or it develops into a hard seed coat.

The seed, which is an embryo with two points of growth (one of which forms the stems the other the roots) is enclosed in a seed coat with some food reserves.

In gymnosperms the two sperm cells transferred from the pollen do not develop seed by double fertilization but instead only one sperm fertilizes the egg while the other is not used.

The seed is composed of the embryo (the result of fertilization) and tissue from the mother plant, which also form a cone around the seed in coniferous plants like Pine and Spruce.

The new seed is formed in plant structures called fruits.

Plants have evolved many ways to disperse and spread the population through their seeds.

Is It Legal to Buy Cannabis Seeds?

There are some key exceptions to the legality of cannabis seeds in the United States. Specifically, you can legally buy or own seeds to use as bait for fish or birdseed. The caveat here is that the seeds that fit this description generally tend to be commercial hemp seeds with fairly low percentages of THC. In other words, you can’t use the seeds to grow plants that will give you the high associated with cannabis.

Interpretations of legal guidelines have also changed over the years. Interpret legal guidelines to indicate that cannabis seeds are legal, provided they are not sprouted. This lack of germination is key.

To further complicate the whole question of the legality of cannabis seeds, some states allow you to legally possess the seeds but not grow them. Only fewer than 20 states allow you to grow cannabis plants legally, so even if you can legally own the seeds in other states, you can’t do anything with them.

How to Know Your Cannabis Seeds are Real

As with any harvest, a successful cannabis harvest starts with quality seeds, but even for long-time growers, it can be difficult to choose the best. To give you a concept of what to look for when preparing your seeds for your Marijuana Garden, here we are talking about the ability to identify high-quality cannabis seeds by sight.

  • Appearance and Color: Viable seeds are brown, brown, or even black, their immature seeds are lighter colors such as white, yellow, and light green
  • Size and shape: Round or teardrop is the best quality.
  • Hardness and durability: smooth outer shells and non-cracked surface
  • Age: Store seeds in a cool, dark place (even in a freezer) to keep them from rot or getting moldy.
  • Float Test: Just enough distilled water to see if it has enough bulk to sink in an hour or two, and if it does, it generally has a better chance of germinating than Seeds that float.

Seed Bank Payment Options

Payments over the internet are very common these days. People pay almost everything through online payment systems. Hence, marijuana seeds are no exception.

Seed banks have different ways of paying for your order. The various methods are available to you here:

  • Online Bank Transfers
  • PayPal
  • Payment through cash
  • Seed banks that Accept Visa
  • Cryptocurrency
  • A debit card or Credit card

F.A.Q

Q: Are there any seed banks in the United States?

A: In parts of the United States, there is a huge thriving cannabis market, and American breeders are growing world-famous cannabis strains. The issue has to do with the US federal government and the current legal status of cannabis. Marijuana and its derivatives (including seeds) are counted as a Schedule 1 drug with little or no legal use, making it difficult, if not impossible, for a seed bank to operate in the United States, as it does in the United States, the Netherlands, Spain or Canada (which have legal loopholes or full legalization).

Q: What seed bank has the best genetics?

A: When it comes to buying cannabis seeds, making sure you get the best possible genetics is essential if you want to get the most out of your plant. A great way to make sure of this is to look at the reputation of the seed bank you are buying from because if anything is an indication of quality, it will satisfy customers. With this in mind, we have put together a list of the 10 best selling seed banks here chosen by growers for growers.

5 Best Seed Banks that Ship to the USA

  • A reputable company with a 9.4/10 Trustpilot rating
  • No Dud Seeds, Money Back Guarantee
  • Discreet stealth packaging
  • Free shipping to Europe and the United States
  • Major well-known name strains

Sketchy Companies do not last 25 years, people who really love growing marijuana do. Clever name aside, this site catches the eye for its packaging, free shipping, and high Trustpilot rating.

Founder Robert Bergman, has been growing weed for more than 25 years, and has learned plenty of tips and tricks during that time. He started I Love Growing Marijuana in 2012 and turned it into one of the world’s most trusted sites for buying cannabis seeds for both Europeans and Americans. The website is also offering free shipping to everywhere in the US states and Europe and your order will usually arrive in ten days or less.

The thing about this site is the amazing number of available categories and options for all types of growers and specialization. On their main menu tabs, you get the option of choosing beginner seeds, feminized seeds, auto flowers, mixed packs, medical marijuana seeds, grow kits, seed-growing nutrients, and even some special deals. Every one of their seed choices is the authentic strain stated and comes with a germination guarantee, so there’s no chance of getting stuck with seeds that are duds.

They also offer seeds for cool climates or warm climates, indoor or outdoor growing, high yielding, high CBD or high THC, and so much more. Since everybody’s situation is different, it’s good to have so many available options. And, some of the top strains include choices like Bergman’s Gold Leaf, Blueberry Autoflower, Girl Scout Cookies Extreme, Gorilla Glue, and White Widow.

On the checkout page, there are multiple payment options, from bank transfers or deposits, credit/debit cards, and even Bitcoin, which can help with being as discreet as possible. And, standard shipping is free, or you also have the option of paying $25 if you prefer a tracked shipping method.

2. Crop King Seeds – A Reliable Canadian Seed Bank that Ships to the US

Pros:

  • Free delivery on $300+ orders
  • 80 percent germination rate
  • “Five crown” ranking system
  • Germination guide for new growers
  • Simple e-commerce layout
  • Useful infographics regarding genetics and THC-CBD ratios.

Cons:

  • $10 regular delivery fee on orders under $300
  • Regular shipping is slow (7 to 14 business days)
  • Website seems aimed at beginners

This US seller’s site offers a nice simple layout with many large sections featuring choices like auto flower, feminized, and high-CBD, as well as regular weed seed types, which gives you a fair amount of choices. One thing that’s especially helpful is their “Germination” section. It provides step-by-step directions on how you can guarantee that 80 percent of the seeds from them will end up reaching germination. That seems a bit low when you compare it to some other seed banks, but perhaps Crop King is just being realistic.

One of the best things about this company is the “five-crown” rating system. It’s quite similar to a “five-star” rating system and is controlled by a variety of user reviews that are unbiased, making it an excellent way for trying new strains with recommendations from other Crop King customers.

The Crop King website offers a rather generic e-commerce layout but you have the ability of filtering through all of their seeds by genetics and type, as well as CBD and THC percentages. Shipping’s also free when you order $300 worth of seeds or more. Regular shipping runs $10 and arrival takes 7 to 14 business days. Express shipping runs $30, which is a bit expensive but let’s move on to the pros and cons of Crop King Seeds:

3. Marijuana Seeds NL (MSNL) – Best for Discreet Shipping

Pros:

  • Offers Stealth Shipping – a very discreet shipping method where the weed seeds are hidden within some other objects, like DVD cases, prior to shipping.
  • 15 percent off bitcoin orders
  • Long Standing since 1999
  • Fun quiz for helping you pick the best seeds
  • Award winners of High Times Cup and Cannabis Cup
  • Variety of shipping options (includes stealth shipping)
  • FREE seeds with all orders for trying new strains
  • Wide range of seeds

Cons:

  • International shipping may take weeks
  • No free delivery unless buying in bulk
  • US delivery costs more
  • Confusing charts for describing seed strains

This is a cannabis seed bank that is based in the Netherlands and has been in business since 1999. With more than 20 years of experience in the sale of high-quality seeds, they have numerous options for auto flowering, feminized, indoor and outdoor, regular, high-CBD seeds, and much more.

One fun thing about their website is the quiz that asks “What marijuana strain are you?”. It helps customers to discover the MSNL seeds based upon specific growing conditions, weed preference, and what you’re expecting from the finished buds. At the end, you’ll have four weed seed options chosen for fitting with your climate, growing skills, and personality. This feature is nice for newbie growers.

MSNL states that their seeds have a 90 percent germination rate, which is more refreshing and honest than promising a 100 percent germination rate like some other seed banks may do. And, all of the seeds are hand-checked by their expert staff with plenty of experience in marijuana seeds from Amsterdam, therefore you’re assured a top product. And, they stock some major named strains, including some High Times Cup and Cannabis Cup and award-winners, like Buddha, Grandaddy Purps, Northern Lights, and White Widow. You also get FREE seeds with each order, which is a great way for you to try some new seeds while also helping the new seed strains with acquiring the much-needed attention in an extremely busy market.

Standard delivery is currently around $6.25 but if you buy in bulk, you get free delivery. Their deliveries generally arrive in the US in approximately 6 to 12 days, but sometimes end up taking a few weeks. Multiple payment methods are available, including cash, credit/debit cards, checks, bank wires, or bitcoin. Buying with bitcoin gets you a 15 percent discount. Here are the basic pros and cons:

4. Seedsman – Best Breeders’ Seed Bank

Pros:

  • 15 percent bitcoin discount
  • A regular customers’ loyalty points system
  • A-Z breeders’ list
  • Free seeds included in every order
  • Plenty of seed types in-stock
  • Tons of accessories from hemp bags and informational books to storage jars
  • User reviews for helping you decide

Cons:

  • Cheesy-feeling ads on their website’s front page
  • Steep insurance and delivery charges
  • User reviews that feel a bit biased

This is one of the most widely trusted cannabis seed banks shipping to the US. It’s also seriously geared toward growers with considerable experience. In fact, the company hosts an annual “Photo Cup” competition aimed at encouraging growers to submit photos of their own weed crops, preferably complete with a creative, fun, or just plain impressive twist of some kind.

The best thing about this cannabis seed seller is its massive variety of licensed breeders. In fact, they even provide a very long alphabetical list of all the seeds they stock and their breeders. If you’re searching for a specific big-name or even a niche breeder, you’re likely to find them and their weed seeds stocked by Seedsman.

In addition, you can also find all of the usual selections of feminized/autoflowering/ seeds along with entire sections containing popular strain variations, including Northern Lights, Sour Diesel, Skunk, Cheese, and the ever-popular White Widow.

Seedsman proudly stocks plenty of award-winning seeds plus some very specific categories tailored to specific growing locations. For example, you can purchase fast-flowering strains, mold-resistant strains, and even seeds suitable for growing at high altitudes, like in Colorado.

Every product listing contains a review at the bottom of the page and, with each purchase, you’ll be receiving some free seeds along with loyalty points for buying. And, when you’re buying and paying with bitcoin, you’ll also be getting 15 percent off. If that isn’t enough, you’ll also receive 25 percent more off for your first time paying with bitcoin! There’s only one downside and that is rather pricey delivery add-on charges, like the delivery insurance fee ($9.04) and the delivery charge ($8.98). At this point, let me give you the basic pros and cons of Seedsman:

5. Quebec Cannabis Seeds (QCS) – Fastest Shipping

Pros:

  • Credit card charges are under a non-obvious company name
  • 20 percent Bitcoin payment discount
  • More than 15 years of seed bank experience,-Stealth shipping
  • A variety of autoflower, regular, CBD, feminized, and mixed seeds
  • US customers can pay in USD

Cons:

  • 3.8 percent credit card payment fee
  • Minimum $70 order amount
  • Only one $10 standard shipping option
  • Website is a bit less sophisticated than some others

QCS has a website that was specially designed for people with prior experience in cannabis seed growing, (at least that’s the impression you get). Their website has been up-and-running for 15 years or more now, however, the fact is that QCS has been supplying all of Canada (and even the rest of the world) with some pretty high-quality seeds for almost 20 years. There are a number of different types and strains available, including high-CBD, autoflowers, mixed packs, and feminized, as well as outdoor, regular, and even some limited edition seeds. You can also submit a request for in-depth info about any other strains that you’re interested in. You’ll receive it in a format much like eBay product descriptions complete with bullet points. This may not be the world’s most sophisticated online cannabis seed bank but it’ll do the job if you know what you’re actually looking for. And, for all deliveries, they use very discreet stealth shipping. The only problem is that but they only offer a vague delivery window for the ETA of the product shipment.

US customers are charged in USD, so you don’t have to deal with Canadian dollar conversion. You can also pay in a number of ways, however, it’s important to know that any credit card payment accrues a 3.8 percent fee. And, if you pay with Bitcoin, you’ll get a 20 percent discount on your entire order. So, let’s move on to the pros and cons to give you a quick picture of this seller:

Is buying marijuana seeds online and having them shipped to the US safe?

Although you might think that it’s risky to order cannabis seeds online and receive them in the mail, the truth is that there’s minimal risk involved even when placing an order with a seed bank overseas. Don’t worry about customs laws either. Some people think that, if their seeds are intercepted, they’ll end up on a list and somebody will come knocking on their door (kind of like in the movies).

The more likely scenario would be that your seeds wouldn’t even be found. If they were, customs would probably just throw them out and then proceed by sending you a very official-looking letter that simply says that they were confiscated. And, that would be that.

“Stealth Shipping”

However, if you’re having seeds shipped from a foreign country to the US and worry about the possibility of interception, many of the best seed banks online are offering what is called “stealth shipping”. This is basically just a very discreet shipping method where the weed seeds are hidden within some other objects, like DVD cases, prior to shipping. This can help keep your package from being flagged as suspicious.

While we’re on the subject of shipping, don’t request expedited delivery or any delivery requiring a signature. Why? Well, you don’t want to intentionally draw attention to the package or have to sign for a cannabis seeds delivery. That’s a bit of a no-brainer. Also, when ordering in large amounts, multiple smaller orders from a variety of vendors will spread your risk along the lines of that old saying “Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket”.

Seed Bank Payment Options

Another consideration is the payment option you choose and how it’ll be charged. If your goal is to stay way under the radar, you might find that bitcoin is the most encrypted currency form plus it’s virtually untraceable. Numerous top cannabis seed banks are actually offering a discount if you’re paying in bitcoin. Alternatively, you can pay via credit card since credit card purchases are insured and better protected in case something goes awry.

Final Thoughts

If you want the best seed bank possible I’d definitely recommend ILGM. However all sites on this list have been thoroughly vetted and will deliver a good seed shopping experience.

I’m hoping that this buying guide gives you a little guidance and helps you with finding the seed seller that’s just right for you and your needs. And, last but not least, happy growing!

Hemp seeds from the hemp plant (cannabis sativa) are naturally loaded with nutritional value, boasting all of the essential amino acids and fatty acids the body needs. These whole hemp seeds arrive with their hulls and shells intact, but once you crack into them, you’ll discover a huge variety of nutritional and medicinal applications.

4 Surprising Health Benefits of Hemp Seeds

As a dietary supplement, hemp seeds provide a hearty helping of simple proteins, a perfect balance of essential acids, and a blend of rich minerals and antioxidants.

1) Protein Powerhouse: Hemp seed is valued for being a complete protein, containing all 21 amino acids, including all 9 essential amino acids. It’s important to consume essential amino acids through food because our bodies cannot produce them naturally. A single serving of hemp seeds contains 11 grams of protein. Between 1/4 and 1/3 of hemp seed by weight is pure protein, and hemp seed protein is distinctive for being amazingly easy to digest.

2) Perfect Balance of Essential Fatty Acids: Hemp seed contains an ideal balance of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids, in a proportion of 3:1. These fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the body but are required to support a wide range of cellular processes in the body, including the proper function of the heart and brain. Hemp seed is an even more potent source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids than flaxseed, which is renowned as a health food staple.

3) Tons of Nutrients: Hemp seeds are also an excellent source of vitamin E, zinc, iron, and magnesium. Vitamin E and zinc are potent antioxidants that protects cells against the damaging effect of free radicals. Iron helps deliver oxygen-rich red blood cells throughout the body and magnesium plays a role in hundreds of chemical reactions in the body.

4) Heart-Healthy: A 2013 study published in the European Journal of Nutrition found that hemp seed consumption could reduce elevated blood pressure in hypertensive rats. The research suggests that hemp seeds may offer benefits to prevent and treat hypertension.

Taste and Uses of Hemp Seeds

Hemp seeds have a pleasant nutty taste and crunchy texture. Snack on the raw seeds throughout the day, toss them into salads or substitute them for nuts in your favorite baking recipes. If you’re looking for an alternative to dairy milk, try blending one part hemp seed with four parts water to mix up your own hemp milk. You can even buy whole hemp seeds to make your own soothing skin care solution–try grinding the seeds into paste with a mortar and pestle and mixing it with other natural skin care substances like aloe vera gel or our raw organic cacao butter.

Hemp Seeds: Our Registered Dietitian’s Top Pick

Our Registered Dietitian and Health Nut loves these nutrient packed seeds! They have all essential amino acids and healthy fats, and are a great addition to salads, oatmeal, or stir fries, giving them an extra crunch. You can also grind them and add them to a smoothie.

Hemp Seeds Storage

It’s best to keep hemp seeds refrigerated in an airtight container. If you purchase a 5-pound bag, consider putting 1 pound of the hemp seeds in an airtight container in the refrigerator for daily use and freezing the rest.

Birds Eat Hemp Seeds, Too

Although us humans love these seeds for their great taste and powerful nutrients, we’re not the only ones in on the secret. Pour a few handfuls into your outdoor feeder or just scatter it on the lawn to see what a popular item hemp bird seed really is! You can mix it into your existing bird feed blend to attract a wider variety of species, or just put it out by itself–grosbeaks and cardinals in particular love to eat hemp seeds.

*Per United States regulations, these hemp seeds have been heat sterilized*

Cannabis Seeds by Sex

  • Regular Seeds: Grow both male and female cannabis plants. The males are culled in sensimilla (seedless bud) production. Regular seeds are the best choice for breeders. They have sustained the cannabis genus through its natural evolution.
    Read—Top 15 Best Regular Seeds
  • Feminized Seeds: Grow only female plants. This is accomplished by breeding two female cannabis plants together. The resulting seeds can only inherit two X chromosomes—meaning all female plants. Feminized seeds are great for growers with strict plant limits and for cloning. Read—Top 15 Best Feminized Seeds

Cannabis Seeds by Genetics

  • Sativa Seeds: Grow into tall plants with slender, elongated branches, sharp leaves and large colas. Sativa originates from subtropical/tropical zones including Africa, Southeast Asia, South & Central America. The plants have a naturally long flowering cycle that’s often over 10 weeks. Resistant to molds and diseases, sativas are great outdoor climate strains. They can grow to over 15 feet tall! High THC and THCV content. People who enjoy a stimulating “head high” effect prefer sativa cannabis. Read—Top 25 Best Sativa Seeds
  • Indica Seeds: Grow short plants with fat leaves, thick stems and a stocky structure. Indica originates from temperate zones such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal and Morocco. Traditionally used to make hash, indica cannabis is the real deal dank—super sticky and dense. Indica grows like a bush and can produce large yields in a small area. The plants have a fast flowering cycle. They may require a low humidity climate to avoid mold problems. High THC and CBD content. People who want a relaxing “body high” stone prefer indica cannabis. Read—Top 25 Best Indica Seeds
  • Hybrid Seeds: Grow crossbreeds of indica and sativa, in countless combinations. Hybrid cannabis seeds are able to grow tall sativa trees that produce the dank, heavy buds of an indica. Hybrid cannabis strains are by far the most popular category of cannabis seeds sold on the market today. They come in all different plant sizes, flowering times, yields, aroma, flavors, cannabinoid contents and effects. Read—High Yield Seeds List
  • *Autoflowering Seeds: Grow plants that flower automatically (non-photoperiod). The seeds may be either feminized or regular. Autoflowering varieties are made with ruderalis genetics, resulting in seeds that will bloom under any amount of light—including 24 hours/day. Auto strains stay short and finish their life cycle fast, some at under 60 days from seed. They benefit from long light hours per day to produce a decent harvest weight. The plants can be spaced closely, as in SOG or SCROG cultivation methods. Autoflowering cannabis seeds are used often by indoor cash croppers, who cycle them indoors for perpetual harvests. ☺ Cannabis seeds are also categorized by their unique traits such as high THC strains, high CBD strains, high yield strains, landrace genetic strains, inbred line strains, award winning strains and more.

Seed, Feed and Weed to Succeed

By Marty Abbott

In my earlier article I used the sports management analogy to make the case for actively managing the skills, skill levels and composition of your team. In this note I’ll discuss the topic of how to manage those activities. For this, we’ll leave sports and use a gardening analogy.

Even a novice gardener would not expect to rake some soil, throw some seeds, pray for rain and wait for a beautiful garden. Your team is no different; you must undertake the same activities in managing your team as you would in creating a successful garden.

Selecting the right flowers for our garden means paying attention not only to how they look, but how they will interact with the other flowers in our garden; will they steal too many nutrients or will the soil properly support their needs?

Managers in hyper-growth companies spend a lot of time interviewing and selecting candidates but usually not very much time on a per candidate basis and even less time pondering where they’ve gone wrong in hiring in the past. Finding the right individual for your job means paying attention to your past failures in hiring and correcting them. We might interview for skills, but overlook critical items like cultural or team fit. Why have you had to remove people? Why have people decided to leave?

Candidate selection also means paying attention to the needs of the organization from a productivity and quality perspective. Do you really need another engineer or product manager, or do your pipeline inefficiencies indicate additional process definition needs, tools engineers or quality assurance personnel?

One final point here is that far too often we try to make hiring decisions after we’ve spent 30 minutes to an hour with a candidate. We encourage you to spend as much time as possible with the candidate and try to make a good hire the first time. Seek help in interviewing or add people whom you trust and whom have great interviewing skills to your interview team to increase your chances of a good hire the first time. Call previous managers and peers and be mindful to ask and prod for weaknesses of individuals in your background checks.

Feeding your garden means spending time growing your team. Of all the practices in tending to your team, this is the one that is most often overlooked for lack of time.

The intent of feeding is to help grow the members of your team who are producing to the expectations of your shareholders. Feeding consists of coaching, praising, correcting technique or approach, adjusting compensation and equity and anything else that creates a stronger and more productive employee.

Feeding your garden also means taking individuals who might not be performing well in one position and putting them into positions where they can perform well. However, if you find yourself moving an employee more than once it is likely that you are avoiding the appropriate action of weeding.

Also, feeding your garden means raising the bar on the team overall and helping them achieve greater levels of success. Great teams enjoy great but achievable challenges and it’s your job as a manager and executive to challenge them to be the best they can be.

While you should invest as much as possible in seeding and feeding, we all know that underperforming and nonperforming individuals choke team productivity just as surely as weeds steal vital nutrients from the producers within your garden. The nutrients that are being stolen in this case are the time that you spend attempting to coach underperforming individuals to an acceptable performance level and the time your team spends compensating for an underperforming individual’s poor results.

Weeding our gardens is often the most painful activity for most managers and executives and as a result it is often the one to which we tend last.

While you must abide by your company’s practices regarding the removal of people who are not performing (these practices vary not only by country but very often by state), it is vital that you find ways to quickly remove personnel who are keeping you and the rest of your team from achieving your objectives. The sooner you remove them, the sooner you can find an appropriate replacement and get your team where it needs to be.

benefits of hemp seed oil

The Health Benefits of Hemp

Nutritional Advantages of Eating Hemp Seeds and Hempseed Oil

  • facebook
  • linkedin

Lana Butner, ND, LAc, is a board-certified naturopathic doctor and licensed acupuncturist in New York City.

Hemp seeds, oil, and protein powder

Verywell / Anastasiia Tretiak

Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is cultivated for making a wide range of products including foods, health products, fabric, rope, natural remedies, and much more. The various parts of the hemp plant are used to make different products.

The seeds of hemp are edible and are considered highly nutritious with a high concentration of soluble and insoluble fiber, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids for heart health and skin health.

Hemp is grown for non-drug use because it contains only trace amounts of THC (the psychoactive component of the marijuana plant that is responsible for getting a person high).

Also Known As

  • Narrow-leaf hemp
  • Bitter root
  • Catchfly
  • Indian-hemp
  • Milkweed
  • Wild cotton

Health Benefits

There are three different species of plants that come from the Cannabis genus (in the Cannabaceae family). These include Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis.

Hemp classifies as varieties of Cannabis that contain 0.3% or less THC content. Marijuana, on the other hand, describes Cannabis plant species that have more than 0.3% THC, which can induce euphoric effects.

The hemp seeds are the primary part of the hemp plant that is edible. The leaves can be used to make a tea, but it’s the seeds that contain most of the plant’s nutrients. In fact, hemp seeds have over 30% fat, including essential fatty acids. The health benefits of hemp, therefore, primarily come from its seeds.

Hemp Seeds

Hemp seeds are, pretty much, as the name implies—the seeds of the hemp plant. Sometimes, the seeds are also referred to as hemp hearts.

They are high in insoluble and soluble fiber, rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) which has been linked in studies to many health benefits, offers a healthy balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Note that hemp hearts have had the fibrous shell removed and, thus, are lower in fiber and other nutrients than whole hemp seeds.

A 2016 study discovered that GLA has very strong anti-inflammatory properties and has a “great potential to dampen [the] inflammatory processes and improve signs and symptoms of several inflammatory diseases.”

Hemp seeds contain the perfect 3-to-1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, which is considered the optimal ratio for heart and brain health. This ratio is difficult to attain in the Western diet, as most foods contain far too many omega-6 fatty acids (like vegetable oil) and not nearly enough omega-3 fatty acids (such as salmon and other wild-caught, cold-water fish).

Hemp seeds contain many nutrients, including minerals (such as magnesium, calcium, iron, and zinc) as well as vitamins.

The high content of 20% soluble and 80% insoluble fiber, in whole hemp seeds, may aid in digestion while helping to lower bad cholesterol and improve heart health. The insoluble fiber in hemp seeds has also been linked with a lower risk of diabetes.

Hemp Oil Versus CBD Oil

Hemp oil (also called hempseed oil) comes from the seeds of the hemp plant; it is made by cold-pressing hemp seeds. Hempseed oil differs from CBD oil in that CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant and then combined with a base oil (such as coconut, MCT, or olive oil).

Hempseed oil, which comes from the seeds only—and not from a hemp variety of the Cannabis plant itself—does not contain any psychoactive properties (such as those from THC which cause a person to get high). Hemp oil has its own unique properties and health benefits.

Hemp oil is used in foods for its high level of healthy nutrients such as:

  • Proteins
  • Essential fatty acids (EFAs)
  • Minerals (such as zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, and more)
  • Antioxidants (such as Vitamin E)

Hemp oil can be used as a cooking oil and, just like any other type of healthy oil, can be added to foods such as salads, dips, and spreads.

Animal studies have shown that hempseed oil may lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Hemp oil is often used as a hair conditioner, a skin moisturizer. Some studies found that hempseed oil may improve dry, itchy skin and help symptoms of eczema, reducing the need for prescription medication.

Hemp Protein

Hemp protein is a powder made from the seeds of the hemp plant; it contains over 25% high-quality protein with nearly 20 amino acids and nine essential amino acids.

Hemp protein is an excellent choice in a protein powder for vegetarians or vegans because it also contains essential fatty acids that are vital to health. The protein content in hemp seeds is considerably higher than that of flax or chia seeds, which contain only around 15% to 18% protein.

Other Health Benefits

Hemp has been used to treat a variety of health conditions, but there is not enough clinical research data to back up the claims that hemp is safe or effective to treat many illnesses. These include:

  • Asthma
  • Cough
  • Bloating
  • Arthritis
  • Syphilis
  • Pneumonia
  • Heart problems
  • Urinary conditions (increasing urine flow)
  • Warts (when applied topically to the skin)

How it Works

It is thought that hemp contains chemicals (like the drug Lanoxin) that lower the blood pressure, slow heart rate, and increase the strength of the heartbeat, and increase urine output.

Hemp is also known to have terpenes, which are molecules produced by plants that are responsible for the plant’s distinctive smell (such as lavender). Studies are beginning to show that terpenes are thought to have many health benefits including neuroprotective (brain-protective), anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties.

Possible Side Effects

According to RX List, taking whole hemp by mouth can cause many side effects including:

  • Throat irritation
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)

There is not enough clinical research data to prove that hemp is safe for use in people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or to use topically (on the skin).

Eating hemp seeds is not considered as unsafe as is ingesting the hemp leaves or other parts of the plant. But the seeds can cause mild diarrhea because of the high-fat content.

Interaction with Medications

Do not ingest hemp when taking cardiac glycosides or diuretics.

Cardiac Glycosides

Cardiac glycosides, such as Lanoxin (digoxin) help the heart beat strongly and can slow down the heart rate. Hemp is also known to slow the heart rate; this could result in bradycardia. Do not take hemp when taking Lanoxin without consulting with the prescribing physician or another healthcare provider.

Diuretics

Diuretics such as Diuril (chlorothiazide), Thalitone (chlorthalidone), Lasix (furosemide), Microzide (hydrochlorothiazide) and others may lower potassium in the body as they work to flush fluids. Hemp has a similar action.

When there is an increase in urine/fluid output, it’s common that potassium is also lost. Taking diuretics and hemp together may result in dangerously low potassium levels which could adversely impact the heart.

Selection, Preparation, and Storage

Hemp seeds can be eaten raw, roasted, or cooked with other foods. Hempseed oil has been used as food or made into medicine for thousands of years in China.

There are many ways to eat hemp protein, oil, and seeds, including:

  • In a smoothie
  • On oatmeal or cereal
  • Sprinkled over salads
  • As a nut butter
  • As a form of milk (hemp milk)
  • On yogurt
  • In meal bars or granola bars
  • As a salad dressing (hemp oil)
  • Sprinkle (hemp seeds) on casserole dishes
  • Add hemp seeds to baked goods
  • In recipes
  • As a cooking oil

Storage

Exposing hemp seeds to air for long periods of time or storing hemp at high temperatures can cause the degradation of its healthy fat content; this could result in trans-fatty acids (which are the very worst type of fats a person could eat).

It is recommended to store hemp seeds and hemp oil at cool temperatures, away from exposure to bright light, in an airtight container. It is best to refrigerate hemp products after opening.

Many hemp products, including hemp oil, hemp milk, and hemp protein powder can be purchased at a health food store, or online.

Cooking hemp seeds or heating the oil to temperatures above 350 degrees Fahrenheit can denature the fats, destroying the healthy fatty acids. Hemp seeds and oil are best eaten raw; if cooking with hemp oil, use low heat.

Dosage

The dosage of any herbal or natural supplement depends on several factors, including a person’s age, health condition, and more.

Always consult with your healthcare provider before taking hemp (or any other herb) regarding the recommended dosage. When taking herbal preparations, never exceed the dosage or other recommendations on the package insert.

When eating hemp seeds, some experts suggest starting out slow (such as 1 teaspoon) then gradually working up to more as tolerated, particularly for those with digestive problems.

Selection

Hemp seeds are grown in many different countries, but the hemp that is grown in Canada is said to produce a great tasting, high-quality seed. Look for products that have been tested in the lab for purity and potency.

Keep in mind that the regulations on hemp grown in the U.S., Europe, and Canada are stricter than those in other countries, such as China. Also, Canada’s products are non-GMO. Be sure to select an organic product for the ultimate in nutritional value, taste, potency, and overall quality.

Common Questions

Are hemp seed hearts that same as hemp seed?

No. Hemp hearts have had the fibrous shell removed and, thus, are lower in fiber and other nutrients than whole hemp seeds. Hemp hearts not as nutritionally beneficial as the whole hemp seed. However, hemp hearts are very high in healthy polyunsaturated fats.

Are hemp seeds legal to ingest in the U.S.?

Yes, hemp seeds are legal in the United States, but the seeds must contain a minimal amount of THC (the psychoactive component of the cannabis plant that gets a person high).

According to the FDA, some hemp products, including hemp seeds, hemp seed protein powder, and hempseed oil are safe for food, and therefore there is no need for special legislation regarding legalization.

Can eating hemp cause a person to fail a drug test?

No, not when eating moderate amounts of hempseed oil, protein powder made of hemp, or hemp seeds. There are only trace amounts of THC in hemp; unless a person is using other variations of the hemp plant, such as marijuana, (or ingesting abnormally large amounts of hemp) failing a drug test from eating hemp seeds is unlikely.

Although hemp hearts do not contain any THC at all, the shells do have trace amounts (below 0.3% THC).

Therefore, although a person is very unlikely to test positive on a drug test from eating hemp seeds, those who are recovering from cannabis addiction—with a goal of avoiding all exposure to THC— may want to avoid eating the whole hemp seeds, and opt for hemp hearts instead.

What does hemp taste like?

Hemp seeds have a very pleasant, mild, nutty flavor, like unsalted sunflower seeds, but the texture is not as hard.

Hemp seed oil is extracted from seeds of the hemp plant. The extraction occurs through cold-pressing, similar to the way that olives are cold-pressed to make olive oil.

Although the hemp and the cannabis (marijuana) plant belong to the same plant family, Cannabis sativa L, they are two different plants and have different compositions. The most notable difference is the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) present in each plant. THC is the psychoactive portion of the cannabis plant. It’s the chemical that makes you feel “high”.

While the cannabis plant has high THC levels (up to 10%), the hemp plant’s THC concentration does not exceed 0.3%. Thus, products derived from the hemp plant are unlikely to create a “high” and are mainly used for medicinal purposes.

Health Benefits

The many health benefits of hemp seed oil come from its high content of three polyunsaturated fatty acids: linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, and gamma-linolenic acid. Additionally, its ratio of omega-6 (linoleic acid) to omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) fatty acids is 3:1.

Experts agree that this 3:1 fatty acid ratio is ideal for health benefits in humans.

Hemp seed oil provides the following health benefits:

Improved Skin

A dermatology study found that oral consumption of hemp seed oil improves symptoms of atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema. Researchers attribute these results to the fatty acids found in hemp seed oil.

Hemp seed oil is also useful in treating other skin conditions, such as cradle cap, psoriasis, and acne. In addition, hemp seed oil strengthens the skin and makes it better able to resist infection.

Lower Blood Pressure

Omega-3 fatty acids abundant in hemp seed oil can help lower blood pressure in people with hypertension (high blood pressure). Research recommends using omega-3 fatty acid supplements along with blood pressure medicine to lower blood pressure.

Promotes Heart Health

Hemp seed oil is rich in linoleic acid. Studies have shown that eating a diet high in linoleic acid significantly reduces total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol.

Lowering cholesterol levels reduces your risk of high blood pressure, stroke, and heart disease.

Pain Relief

Hemp seed oil’s anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce pain. You can apply hemp seed oil directly to the painful area for natural pain relief.

Inflammation Reduction

Gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) present in hemp seed oil has been shown to reduce inflammation. A review of studies suggests that natural herbs rich in GLA are effective in relieving symptoms of inflammatory conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and multiple sclerosis (MS).

Supports a Healthy Pregnancy

Hemp seed oil’s high omega-3 fatty acid content makes it a beneficial supplement for women who are pregnant. Studies found that omega-3 fatty acids are vital during pregnancy. They support healthy brain and eye development for the baby and may also help prevent maternal depression.

Health Risks

Although hemp seed oil offers many health benefits, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks.

Lower Blood Pressure

Hemp seed oil’s ability to lower blood pressure may cause issues for people who have chronically low blood pressure. Low blood pressure (hypotension) can occur for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Prolonged bed rest
  • Pregnancy
  • Significant blood loss
  • Medications
  • Heart problems
  • Endocrine problems (hormone imbalances)
  • Septic shock (a severe infection)
  • Allergic reaction
  • Neurally mediated hypotension (miscommunication between the heart and the brain)
  • Nutritional deficiencies

If you’re experiencing any of the health conditions listed above, speak to your doctor before using hemp seed oil.

Low blood pressure also increases the risk of complications and death during surgery. Your doctor may recommend you stop using hemp seed oil for a period of time before and after surgery.

Amounts and Dosage

While the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t provide a recommended daily allowance (RDA) for hemp seed oil, you may wish to consume hemp seed oil to receive its beneficial health effects.

The amount of hemp seed oil you take depends on how you use it and what health benefits you would like to obtain. Researchers estimate that three tablespoons of hemp seed oil per day can provide the amount of 3:1 fatty acid ratio needed for a healthy diet.

Continued

You can drink hemp seed oil straight or mix it into salad dressings or other foods. You can also use hemp seed oil in place of olive oil for cooking.

One tablespoon (15 milliliters) of hemp seed oil contains:

  • Calories: 125
  • Total fat: 14 grams
  • Saturated fatty acids: 1 gram
  • Monounsaturated fatty acids: 2 grams
  • Polyunsaturated fatty acids: 11 grams

As with any oral supplement, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider before consuming hemp seed oil.

If you are using hemp seed oil topically, be sure to try a small amount first to test for skin irritation. Hemp seed oil can also be used as a carrier oil for an essential oil mixture.

How to grow mary j from seed

Without a doubt, female is the fairer of the marijuana sexes. Feminine cannabis is solely capable of developing the flowering buds, or colas, most of us think of when referring to weed. However, the average marijuana grower knows there are secrets to growing a higher ratio of females to males. Certain conditions can help the plant become feminized; everything from ambient temperatures to relative humidity are thought to push the plant towards choosing a certain sex. Most importantly, growing a healthy plant can help determine not only the sex of the plant, but also the quality of the flowers.

Let’s start with some of the plant’s basic characteristics: Marijuana plants grow in two main stages, vegetative growth and flowering growth. Plants generally don’t express their sex until they switch from vegetative growth to flowering growth, sometime in weeks 4-8. Females will express their sex by growing calyces and pistils, while males will grow little pollen sacs (they look like little marijuana testicles). Males can’t produce the desirable flowering buds, but if you’re in need of seeds, then allow your male plants to release their pollen sacs onto the females, which then will produce seeds along with their lovely bud. However, allowing male plants to pollinate the female plants will result in a less potent flowering bud than if the females are isolated from the males.

By isolating female cannabis plants from their male counterparts, females will produce more pollen. Females do this in order to increase their chances of becoming pollinated, since the females’ sticky pollen help to grab any male pollen that might be floating around in the air. So if you’re trying to grow potent marijuana – whether via an indoor grow box, or in your outdoor garden — you need to be a little cruel to your female plants by keeping them deprived of the male pollen that they’re trying to find. In a way, the female plant’s sexual frustration results in our pleasure in the form of a better flower and stronger high; think about that next time you light up.

A seed will either produce a male or female plant. If we consider a single seed, our seed has a particular chance, or probability, of being a male or female. Maintaining certain environmental factors early in growth can increase the plant’s probability to be female. According to the same article that has been shared numerous times, there are 5 hard and fast environmental conditions to grow by during our plant’s vegetative stage to maximize our seed’s probability of being female:

  1. High nitrogen, and low potassium levels
  2. High relative humidity (60-70%)
  3. Higher-frequency light (blue and purple)
  4. Low number of sun hours (14 hours light, 10 hours dark)
  5. Low temperatures (62-65 °F)

Weed got its name for a reason, despite the optimal growing conditions just mentioned, this plant is highly resilient to a number of adverse growing conditions. A recent study of male cannabis root growth in Italy showed just how resilient the little leafy plant is. The researchers in Italy wanted to know how well cannabis can hunt down water and nutrients in the soil. What they observed was that marijuana roots will grow quite deep,

6.5 feet, in order to find what they need. According to a 2013 publication, corn only grows to

5 feet in depth in optimal growing conditions. Considering that cannabis, grown in less than optimal conditions, grew 1.5 feet deeper than corn, grown in more ideal conditions, it’s no wonder we call it weed.

We’ll also tell you which stores tend to carry them.

Which Grocery Store Aisle Are Hemp Seeds In?

Perhaps the best place to start looking for hemp seeds is in the aisle with nuts and seeds. If there’s an organic section of the aisle, you might want to head there.

Look in the natural food aisle, too. Alternatively, you could check the gluten-free aisle. Either of these places could be where your grocery store is stocking them.

Next, check the baking and cereal aisles. It’s likely that the hemp seeds be sitting near the flours in the baking area or with the granola and oatmeal in the cereal aisle.

The last place to check is the bulk aisle. But if you haven’t found them anywhere, use our store guide below.
